Ruter on track
Aboveit has been involved in developing a new system for Ruter that improves the availability, consistency, and reliability of route data, and handles changes more quickly.
Award-winning angler Asgeir Alvestad spent over 20,000 hours with a fishing rod before he turned 20. His expertise and knowledge inspired the idea of making fishing easier for everyone. We have therefore worked hard to gather insights from the very best anglers and transformed them into an intuitive and helpful app: Fishbuddy by Fiskher - the best fishing guide, right in your pocket and ready for your next fishing adventure.
App Development for Fishbuddy by FiskHer
FiskHer

The challenge was to develop a mobile application for fishing enthusiasts that consolidated Norway's best fishing knowledge in one place. The application needed to provide access to tens of thousands of fishing spots, both along the coast and in inland waters, with an interactive map. Fish species recognition based on images, along with length and weight calculations, were to provide immediate results to the user, and the sharing and competition features were intended to build an engaging community.
Through the free version, users would have access to a limited selection of species, while the premium option would provide access to all species in the ever-growing species database. The goal was to create a comprehensive and user-friendly experience for fishing enthusiasts, focusing on functionality and quality in design and development.

"With Fiskher, you simply become a better angler, whether you're a keen amateur or have a lot of experience already. That's what happens when the app joins you on your fishing trip, with expert tips in your pocket."

The Fishbuddy app by Fiskher has undergone exciting development, and when Aboveit became involved in the project, we took over responsibility for the entire development process. The development was characterized by the challenging and innovative nature of creating something entirely new. Although we encountered some challenges along the way, we viewed these as learning opportunities and a path towards continuous improvement. Our dedication to delivering optimal design led to frequent design discussions, where we always strived to find the most effective solutions on the path to success.

Using Augmented Reality and Machine Learning, an advanced algorithm was developed that can very accurately measure the length of a fish. This innovative solution made it possible to visualize and measure fish in real-time by using the real world as an interactive canvas. Our contributors had expertise in UX design, frontend, backend, and graphic design, and were responsible for the entire development of Fishbuddy by Fiskher for iOS devices, in addition to managing and further developing the backend and Fishbuddy by Fiskher for Android devices.
